The Travel Mast: a compact lightweight telescopic mast
***IMPORTANT NOTE: IF USING THIS MAST WITH A BAND HOPPER ANTENNA WE RECOMMEND ATTACHING THE ANTENNA NO HIGHER THAN 6 METRES (20FT) UP THE MAST (top of section 11 - counted from base/outer section)***
This is our 10m (32ft) Travel Mast. With a transport-length of only 67cm ( 26.5 inches ) it fits in a suitcase making it perfect for vacation DXing.
Note that this type of mast is quite flexible. To get the best performance out of it, guy it carefully. For use with horizontal antennas a maximum practical height for the antenna is 7 metres. The full height of the pole can be used for vertical antennas. If the pole is bending a lot, you have too much tension on it! The poles will break if bent too far.
As of mid July 2023, the threaded part of the mast base assembly is now made of metal, so the base cap should be at a much lower risk of breaking. However, we do still suggest putting some padding inside the base of the mast if you can find something suitable (such as a disc of foam rubber or similar), to cushion against damage if the mast collapses unexpectedly.

FAQ:
Spare parts are available - see below.
The mast is made of Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) = Fiberglass. This is an insulator with excellent RF properties (very low loss).
Friction lock: pull each section firmly with a twisting motion for best lock. When erecting always start with the smallest section. When taking down always start with the largest section.
Top sections may be removed by unscrewing the endcap at the bottom of the mast.
Guying Use our Multifunction Guying Kit Or build your own using the 34mm Guying collar and/or 22mm Guying Collar with Pegs and Hi-viz cord / stealth cord

Excellent.
This is my first mast. After watching a ton of videos from all sorts of vendors, I decided on this one. I went as far as to make a spreadsheet of my personal requirements between compromises of weight, height, durability etc. This one was my top choice and after about a year later, it's just like new. I live in Canada. It's been through #$%^ and back.

Works great!
I am on the USA west coast. I ordered this on Monday from the UK and had it arrive today, Friday, same week. Outstanding. First mast I’ve had so I read the directions. Took me about 15-20 minutes to get it put up and cut the guy lines and hang a Packtenna EFHW. First contact was a POTA in Alaska, SSB, about 1,500 miles from me. Taking it all down and putting it away took about 10 minutes. Outstanding! Thank you for the excellent service and a great product. - Paul

Compact Mast
I have used only three times, but has worked quite well. Might consider a smallest section “cap” that stops it from slipping down into the other sections. Also, a marking on the eleventh section would be nice.

10m Travel Mast
5*. Same as the DX-Wire 10m mini. don't forget to put some foam in the bottom cap to protect the sections during disassembly or collapse. Grey colour is less noticeable against our overcast skies than a black pole would be. Ideal for use with a vertical antenna using the full length of the pole.

Great gear!!!
I use this with the drive on mast stand and it works a charm. Recently set up with this and a log on the drive on stand just outside my tent so I could be in comfort while operating. It was a sweet setup. I also carry it on my bike rack when bicycle touring for any radio ops that I can do. Nice gear!!!

SO TAke one!
Right product for me as I plan to travel internationally with this. Using it with an LNR 10/20/40 MK II end-fed. Gets it up as a sloper to multiple heights very rapidly. Recommended for portable all over operation. 73 de VA6JDM

compact light weight 10m mast
Very useful tool, fitted in suitcase for a recent flight. easily deployed. I have made a 3 wire guy point for it at about 2.5 metres up and use the band hopper dipole as just 2 sloping drops so that the pole isn't flexing around under a 3 drop arrangement at the top.

Nice Portable Mast
I purchased this mast due to it's short packed length and it's relative light weight. I hope to make a lot of SOTA contacts using this mast to raise my antenna. I will pass on a tip I read somewhere, cut up an old mousepad and put a piece under the mast sections on the bottom so if it falls the blow is softened. It helped me out one time when I apparently didn't lock the sections solidly, once the first section fell, the remaining sections collapsed in sequence and I had no damage due to the mousepad.

Decent Mast
I use this mast with the Sotabeam 4-band. I had never used a mast of this sort before and after several failed attempts to keep the smaller ends from falling out (I opened the wrong end) it deploys quite easily. A small twist for each section keeps the section in place. I have used twice thus far and it has withstood the winds of a large thunderstorm. Fairly light weight and easy to carry, but slightly too long for backpacking unless attached to the bottom of the pack. I will use as an emergency mast when on the road traveling in the United States for my work.

Great light weight mast
This mast is a great piece of kit for portable operations. I have a heavier mast for my car trips but this mast works great for backpack or suitcase trips. Highly recommended!
