    Lightweight Antenna Wire

Posted by Paul on 21st Mar 2017

Bought a reel of this wire last year as my XYL was rather vocal at the first attempt at a 7 meter high washing line and wanted something a little less visible. She does not recognise RF beauty and an 80' long wire is as stealthy as I can get without filling the loft full of wire. Must admit it has stretched a little, but has survived Hurricane Doris and with my home brew antenna match even puts out a signal that has worked DX on TOP Band despite being clearly compromised in length for this frequency.

Light and stealthy but lacks strength

Posted by Ed on 2nd Mar 2017

A lightweight wire that is easy to handle, and the brown colour is good for stealth installations. However, although good for portable wire antennas, the conductor is very thin and I have found it to break easily under tension (it broke whilst setting up an inverted L antenna), so maybe something more heavy duty is needed for more permanent installations.

    excellent

Posted by Alan Buckley on 21st Nov 2016

This antenna wire is light weight, strong and has a low visual impact (almost invisible) , easy to work with, delivery was fast and packaging is good. Ideal for sota , portable or base station installation. I have used this for contests with no problems.

A good cable for portable and testing wire antennas

Posted by Ignacio on 4th Oct 2016

I have used this cable to build end fed antennas and loop antennas. It is really lightweight but not fragile, so that I could use it in many activation on the field. It's easy to roll back when you finish and I could test new antennas like loops and Deltas and was able to compare them against standard dipoles. Therefore I find its price cheap as it is durable if you handle with some care and I added new capabilities in my portable setup. Worth trying. VY 73 de Ignacio EA2BD

    Exactly what I needed

Exactly what I needed for a 'stealth' back garden end-fed wire and counterpoise. Achieves a good balance between strength and stealth!

    Hi Viz antenna wire

Posted by Unknown on 7th Jun 2016

I chose the hi-viz bright yellow wire as I enjoy working /p and my current black wire is hard to see out in the middle of a field - a potential hazard for others out walking, wildlife etc. This wire has a thinner overall diameter than I was expecting, however although I haven't put it under any great tension, it's fine for use as an inverted V for /p - at this price, who cares if it gets snagged on a tree and a bit snaps off or you have to cut it free.

    Ultra lightweight equipment wire.

Posted by Douglas Maxwell on 6th Jun 2016

I haven't used this yet as it really looks too thin to withstand any tensioning. If the idea is to drape this from a pole or on a tree and put a couple of watts into it on one specific frequency, then I suppose it should be OK.

    Lightweight Antenna Wire 100m

Posted by Paul 2E0MIY on 8th Feb 2016

I'm a real home built antenna buff and bought a roll of this wire to make up a dipole for the loft. Have found it excellent and able to handle a surprising level of RF. Have since added to this to make a fan dipole and the wire is excellent grade and most importantly very good value.

    Very good value for money

Posted by Martynas M6KVS on 7th Feb 2016

It's a strong lightweight wire. The PVC insulator does not crack on extreme bends. Recommended.
