"A terrific idea. My friend AF4B and I now own about 15 winders each, we play with antennas a lot. The concept inspired us to build a large back to back version out of fiber board with a center divider. It contains the wire and support cords of each side of a portable 2 element 40 meter portable quad. The owner was very satisfied.

Supporting everything most others have said here...nice piece of kit to keep portable cables tidy. Only thing is (for me; YMMV) that the winders do actually make the cable bundles larger than they would be without them. This means that my tiny radio bag is overstuffed and might need to be replaced with a slightly larger one. But really, since the cables are well-managed and not getting knotted; these winders are a great idea. I would recommend buying them and then selecting your bag size based upon how much space these things take. VK2BEN

What can you say? The idea is so simple, you think "Why didn't I think of that?" But we didn't. The brilliance here is not so much the idea, but the execution. Strong, but very light. And it even has a shock-cord to hold the wire in place while packed. The only improvement I could see is the available colors. I like my antenna parts stealthy. OD-green or brown would be a nice addition. KD9KC.

Richard, The ones from you I have have seen a lot of action on dx trips almost since you started to do them. I have lost the bungee thing with the yellow ball from one and the slot on another has broken off (dropped it) but they have done tens of thousands of miles and probably a hundred deployments in all sorts of environments. In KH8 from the beach force 6/7 which is a bit blowy during the day feels damn windy and dangerous during the night (when I operated) being qrp you just cannot get a good signal out to EU in the day from there. The one winder I took with home brew W3EDP did sterling service as emergency antenna after main one broke using two palm trees as supports. Same in KH6 and allowed a rapid station to be up and running using palm trees on the beach. Yes if a wire will tangle it will choose the most inopportune and worst time to do it use a wire winder and it will save hours of frustraition. You can quote me too! 72 Dom M1KTA

I have been lookiing for such a product a very long time, this one is perfect. Good material, does not break also when it is cold and the elastic band to fix the wire is very useful.
