Digital Signal Audio Signal Filter Units
***A great addition for your FT817 if you don't fancy installing our internal DSP filter***
Also available as a kit :- Laserbeam-Dual kit
This is a ready-built DSP audio filter unit using one of our popular DSP modules. The ideal unit to give your older receivers a new lease of life with greatly improved filtering. Also good to use with simple kit radios that only have very basic filtering. Connects to the headphone socket on your radio. Our DSP filters offer a greatly superior shape-factor to analogue filters.
Each unit has two selectable audio filters:
- SSB + CW (BW:Wide=2700Hz, Narrow=300 Hz);
- CW wide + CW narrow or (BW:Wide=1000Hz, Narrow=300 Hz);
- SSB wide + SSB narrow (BW:Wide=2700Hz, Narrow=2400Hz).
The front panel features the CW Tuning LED (Sig) and Overload LED (Lvl) as well as a bandwidth switch (W/N) and volume control (Vol). The rear panel has 3.5 mm stereo sockets for audio in and out as well as a power socket for a DC supply (5-15 Volts).
As supplied, the unit will drive headphones or a small loudspeaker. Because the filter module is a plug-in unit you can swap between different LASERBEAM-DUAL modules depending on your application. A power plug is included.
Note that these are bandpass filters only, so will not do anything about noise inside the passband. However, they should be very effective at eliminating noise and signals outside the passband. They will make the biggest difference to older or simpler radios that do not already have advanced DSP filtering on the audio output.
A 2.1mm power plug is supplied (no wires).
Optional Extras
A 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm jack to jack lead might be handy. Click here.
Cable for your power lead could be useful. Click here.
A 3.5mm mono to 3.5mm stereo adapter is required to connect speakers or headphones with a mono plug to this unit, which has a stereo output (plugging in a 3.5mm mono plug without an adapter will cause a short circuit and reduced audio output volume). Click here
If powering this filter from the same power supply as your radio, you may need a ground loop isolator. Click here.

Excellent. SSB/CW version.
My first impression was that it is very nicely made. Then I turned it on and was very pleased with the filtering. It complements the narrow filter in my FT-818 nicely. I highly recommend this device.

SOTABEAMS DSP Filter
This really works. I already had a "noise canceller" between my antenna and my radio, but I still had some noise coming through the headphones. The DSP fitlter really knocks down the remaining noise . I can definitely hear signals that I would not be able to hear if I wasn't using the DSP filter. Also, having a lot less noise means I don't get tired from listening to noise and I can stay on the radio for longer periods.

Improves station listening to selectivity when band is crowded, overall improves listen to station audio quality.
