Our 7m poles are perfect for lightweight portable radio operating. They represent the optimum balance between weight and height for applications where the poles must be carried to site. Longer poles are hard to manage in many conditions.

Note that we usually glue on the base cap of the 7m pole, as otherwise it tends to work loose and fall off. If this is a problem, please leave a note in the "Order Comments" box when checking out and we should be able to supply an unglued one.

Base caps on 10m poles are not glued. The top and base caps are push fit on the current 7m and 10m poles, but tend to stay on a bit better on the 10m poles.

Dimensions and weights approximate.  Poles may differ from the pictures in colour.

"Must-have" Accessories

Pole bags: protect your pole with a durable nylon storage bag.

We also supply guying kits and insulators for our poles. Click the links below for details:

Applications

All our poles will support a lightweight longwire or dipole antenna with ease and are readily erected by one person. They will stand a moderate wind if properly erected. Each pole comes complete with a set of instructions and our suggestions on how they might be used.

Other Uses

These poles are also ideal as the top section for home-station vertical antennas.

A few people have purchased them for use as quad spreaders. People have also bought them to use as elements for lightweight HF yagis - six poles would make a near full-sized 3 element beam for 20/30m if attached to a suitable boom. Four poles could make a nice "Moxon Rectangle" antenna. One person bought four poles to use at the end of the elements of his 80m yagi!

Good, strong pole for portable use

    Posted by David - G0HCP on 28th Jul 2014

My 7m SOTA pole has been out quite a few times lately, and has always been great. Well-made, easy to use, and just the right size. If you do any sort of portable operation, you really should have one of these.

A must have item for portable operation

    Posted by Doug - G4SEQ on 26th Jul 2014

An excellent quality pole that is everything I hoped it would be. Easy to use and stayed up for 3 days when used with a 20-30-40 Band Hopper III. Delivery was quick and the pole came well packaged.

Survived Gale force 8 in the Shetlands!

Posted by Bruce, G4ABX on 22nd Jun 2014

Delighted with the 10M version of this pole. Its been with me up to the most northerly of the Shetland Isles -- UNST. It survived force 8 gales and being bent at almost 90 degrees with no ill effects! Neat, tidy and easy to put up. Treat yourself to the storage bag when you buy one. Its worth it.

    Nice and simple

Posted by Martin on 30th Oct 2013

Does exactly what it says on the tin. I would endorse the comment made by a reviewer of the 10m pole though, and add a piece of sponge or foam rubber in the lower end cap to mitigate against damage in the event of a pole collapse. Other than that I am very happy with my purchase. Packing and delivery were top notch, which appears to be the norm for SOTA in general.

    SOTA 10m pole

Posted by John Wardle, G4CVA on 26th Jun 2013

The pole arrived very promptly and safely. I am using it as a permanent antenna support and have used Araldite on all the joints as suggested by Richard. It all went together without any problem and now looks good as a vertical, actually supporting a 7.62m 'no counterpoise' antenna. Thanks for a great pole and good service.

The new 10m pole from SOTA Beams is just what I needed! Now I can make a full quarter wave vertical for 7Mhz with no trouble at all.

    10m SOTA pole

It came very quickly and was well packed. The instruction leaflet (and video on the SOTAbeam web site) are very clear and understandable. I intend to use my pole as part of a vertical for the new 472kHz band

    SOTA pole Next Day

Posted by Mel. M5ZZR on 7th May 2013

Needed a SOTA pole in a hurry for a boating holiday, an Email ensured I had one the next day. It supported a 10 meter wire fed against water on the boat. It thrashed a few trees but survived to tell the tail. 10 watts from my 703 got me all around Europe and UK and even into the US. Super solution. Thank you.
